Supporting Children Through Emotional, Behavioral, Social, and Developmental Challenges

Individual therapy
Every child is unique, and I tailor my approach based on their individual needs, strengths, and how open they are to therapy. I use a variety of proven techniques to help children feel supported and understood, and to help families work together toward meaningful change.
Some of the methods I draw from include:
-
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Helps children understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected, and teaches practical skills to manage emotions and challenges.
-
Structural Family Therapy: Focuses on improving family relationships and communication, especially when patterns at home may be affecting a child’s well-being.
-
Psychodynamic Therapy: Explores underlying emotional experiences and helps children make sense of their inner world, often through play and creative expression.
I always aim to create a safe, supportive space where children and families can grow, heal, and thrive.

Play Therapy
Play Therapy
Play is how children naturally make sense of the world around them. It’s their language—and through it, they express thoughts and feelings that they might not yet have the words for.
In my practice, I use child-centered play therapy to help children explore emotions, work through challenges, and build important skills. Using toys, art, pretend play, and storytelling, children can safely express what’s going on inside and begin to understand their experiences.
Play therapy also helps children learn how to set boundaries, communicate with others in healthy ways, and develop empathy. It’s a powerful tool for emotional growth and healing—and for many children, it’s where meaningful change begins.

Parent Consultation
Parent Consultation
Parents and caregivers play a key role in a child’s emotional growth and healing. That’s why I often set aside time for dedicated parent sessions as part of the therapy process.
These meetings give us a chance to talk through important topics like discipline, emotional support, communication, boundaries, and ways to strengthen your connection with your child. Together, we’ll work on practical strategies that support your child’s progress and help your family feel more confident and connected.

Family Therapy
Family Therapy
Sometimes, the best way to support a child is to bring the whole family together. When it’s a good fit, I offer family sessions to help parents and children strengthen their connection and work through challenges as a team.
These sessions create space for open communication, shared goal-setting, and collaborative problem-solving. Together, we identify what’s working, what needs support, and which skills can help everyone grow and move forward in a positive direction.

Consultation
Consultation
When a child is facing challenges at school, it’s important that everyone on their team is working together. With your permission, I’m happy to collaborate with teachers, school counselors, and other professionals who are involved in your child’s care.
If your child has—or may need—an Individualized Education Program (IEP), I can attend IEP meetings and share insights that may help the team better understand your child’s needs. Working closely with schools allows us to create more consistent support across home, school, and therapy, which can make a big difference in your child’s academic, social, and emotional success.

Paying for Therapy
I accept many popular health insurance plans including Highmark Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Geisinger Health Plan, Optum Health, Aetna, and Community Care Behavioral Health Organization (Medical Assistance). I also participate in most Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) plans, including Blue Chip and Geisinger CHIP. If you wish to use insurance, ask your health insurance customer service representative about your behavioral health service coverage prior to our first scheduled appointment. If you have a deductible, you will be responsible for paying for services until your deductible is met. This means sessions are to be paid in full each time you come to meet with me. Co-pays are to be paid each session.
